"...something in his Metamucil".
Ain't linking to Drudge but a funny read all the same.
McCain's campaign has grown
dysfunctional.
Relatively easy moral dilemma
We would like to uphold the highest ethical standards for journalists. But...
We have the crime of hacking two email accounts versus the crime of denying accountability in government to all of Alaska's citizens.
The real Palin
One of the virtues of the self-righteous is often the vindictiveness evidenced by Palin.
Probably just a coincidence that the sports complex she put the city in hock for gets used as a place of worship.
Kilkenny seems like a solid citizen.
Twitter comes of age in the democracy
Some distinction should be made here. This was citizen media at its best (farther stipulations on this below). This really can't be considered an example of true
crowdsourcing.
Journalists, both (all) kinds, made significant contributions and enhancements to the Twitter feeds. So did citizen participants who had a stake in getting their story out. The authorities were able to rely on
MSM for their presentations.
It would appear that a great deal of the utility of Twitter in getting out the other side of the story here comes from its young age. Had the medium been mature enough for adoption by the authorities, they surely would have put on just as much of a show on Twitter.
A Labor Day wish
A country for all Americans and the right to secure it.
The inevitable wading into the Palin mess
We assumed that comment would have to be made on the Republican nominee for Vice-President, Sarah Palin. We did not relish the task. This election, without regard for all that hangs in the balance, has become somewhat of the cartoon affair. Obama's driven performance started it off with the selection of Joe Biden as his partner: A few short years ago, just somewhat of a political joke. And now, with all the commensurate irony, comes the lie that is Sarah Palin.
The selection of Palin grows largely out of the inflation of the Hillary myth. Years of Republican spinmeisters beating that drum clouded Repug thinking on the importance of the "female" issue. Helping the decision along, the Repugs also got a gesture towards the values crowd out of the selection of Palin (where McCain has somewhat of a shaky relationship). But values not rooted in the range of human behavior become merely ritual. And the moral superiority used to justify the apparent unreality pressures folks into denial. For some reason, those lies trouble not their morals: Righteousness shall reign supreme. These past eight years we have seen what twisted righteousness can do.
Which all makes
this sordid tale seem believable. For now the evidence appears somewhat circumstantial but rather damning. Our question at this point is why no prosecution?
Update: This just keeps gettin' worse.
