Frank Rich touches on our revulsion with the simpering idiots of the right.
And without really exploring the nexus, he mentions Ron Paul in conjunction with the "lock and load nutcases". Paul has danced along the edges of this fringe for some time but is most notable as having morphed into a darling of the nerd-libertarian wing of our society. It strikes us as ironic that this has the potential of being the Marxist holy grail of the alliance of the proletariat and intelligentsia.

We're a little late on catching this, having been so thoroughly disgusted by Bob Wright being unwilling to eviscerate Ann Althouse's rather convenient definition of terrorism.
We've caught Pinkerton on Fox and not found it worth going out of your way to see. But the dynamic between Corn and Pinkerton is such that we are surprised it has not made its way to another venue.

Security vendor makes an unfair swipe at Microsoft
There have been some conflicting reports on what exactly was the root of the recent Chinese hack. First it was laid at Adobe's door and then it seemed as if it was pretty much agreed that it resulted from built in back doors.
As we said in the earlier post, our three Windows XP machines were not effected nor was the Vista unit. We're all over the Internet (but generally avoiding the more unseemly stuff). It's not like we're sitting behind some safe and restrictive corporate firewall. We were even fixing a friend's laptop at the time and there were no problems with any of these machines. The one thing they all have in common, they're running Microsoft Security Essentials.

Dick Cheney is a motherfuckin' obfuscatin' douchebag
As the header indicates, the Cheney Exception is now in effect granting us leave to express ourselves in the bluntest of terms.
We stumbled upon the Hulu link and thought we'd see if the appearance was what we had heard. It was every bit as bad as had been reported and then some. Venues such as ABC or Politico, that give Cheney an under examined opportunity to spout his shit, ought to be given some kind of credit for a contribution to his legal defense fund.
This lyin' lump of a shit sits there with this stern 'Gosh, why the hell can't you see that I'm talkin' serious shit here?' demeanor while spinning some totally twisted, corkscrewed ironic attempt at saving his ass from the judgment of history and the possibilities of legal or political decisions that might restrict his travel plans. The Repugs have this penchant for a stupidity that grows from some silly righteous notion that the mouthing of vacuous platitudes while attacking their political foes can cover some of the grossest stupidity and misjudgment seen in hundreds of years: A storied tradition dating from the 90's right through to Sarah Palin's notes on her hand while attacking Obama's use of a teleprompter (and not one of the idiots around her has the intellectual stones to say, 'Gosh, that's mighty stupid').
Just at what point of absurdity does the whole movement have to reach before there is an awareness that if you have to cook the books in order to make your case, that it might be time to rethink some things. Cheney and his understudy, Shrub, with PDB's and red lights flashing, sat on their hands as Bin Laden made his moves: A righteous blindness that grew from a belief that Clinton's attacks on Al Qaeda were only because the Repugs were so righteously attacking him. Every Clinton strike was rooted in Monica but citizens should now trust these fucking idiots to be in vigilant defense of the country. They were too stupid to see this before but should be trusted and covered because they invoke the highest calling of honor and duty to country?
The Repug assertions that war granted them leave to fuck up and be monsters is one self-serving pile of horseshit. Cheney's assertion that he speaks out to defend the careers of lawyers and folks in the CIA as a matter of duty just makes you wanna gag. And the silly-ass notion that his performance gives him some greater ability to judge our treatment of this threat is laughable.
Just one further example of the hubris that allows them to think they are entitled to lecture anyone.

We think the deepest and most damning utterance out of this dipshit de damsel comes at the end;
Apparently she feels the very generous personal speaking fee goes back into the "cause" because she is the embodiment. And, you know, there's that thing that she thinks she's on a mission from god. We're at a loss as to how people can't see the coming big fall from grace.

That "worthless" USB fan
Thought we'd send a little link love and share a trick that I imagine others have stumbled across. I have one of those USB multi-drive (IDE, SATA; optical or HDD) external adapters that's handy at just plugging in for a slow but easy formatting of a HDD. I'll use a USB powered fan to keep it cool while I'm performing any lengthy operation.
