Penheaded
USA Today: Whoops!
Poor, pitiful press. As with Rathergate, essentially on the mark reporting will now become a club for the Repugs.
What price for political fodder?
We're linking to this story as further evidence that the real cost of recent disclosures to national security is small.
The current pack of Republicans are scurrilous dogs. Not one high or lofty idea is safe from their crass, hypocritical abuse. Singling out the NYTimes (a favorite whipping dog) in their attacks on the press, they seek to undermine an important check on the abuses of government.
National Review says White House should revoke press credentials for NYTimes
Would be a bad precedent and just silly.
Or is it to make more room for the likes of Jeff Gannon?

Our right; reporters, bloggers and citizens
"Consider, for example, an early draft of the journalist's favorite provision offered to the Constitutional Convention by James Madison: 'The people shall not be deprived or abridged of their right to speak, to write, or to publish their sentiments, and the freedom of the press, as one of the great bulwarks of liberty, shall be inviolable'."

One of the many things chickenhawks are afraid of is the truth
Bravo:
"The right-wing radio personality Laura Ingraham went on the '
Today' show and charged the Baghdad press corps with simply 'reporting from hotel balconies about the latest IEDs going off.'
If Dozier ever recovers the full use of her legs, maybe she and Laura could go for a walk and talk the whole thing over."
A thought on Google
Google, the fine folks that host this blog, often get a kicking here. They've been somewhat spineless in China where they haven't truly served freedom of thought. But there is a bright spot to all this.

Then it struck me. I feel a whole lot more comfortable with Google knowing it wasn't developed by the government.
