"60 Min" to choke
It is being reported that CBS will not air a "60 Minutes" segment questioning the reasons for the war in Iraq because to do so before the election would be "inappropriate". Just when the hell do you think we'll need this information?
This is probably the worst possible type of outcome for Rather's "Faked but Accurate" documents. This administration had gotten a walk on the reasons through the preparation for war and afterwards it was fellow citizens in harm's way that made us hope for the best. Now CBS has joined GW as AWOL. We're SOL and Karl Rove is LOL.
Who do you think you can contact about this?
Faked but Accurate
I keep telling myself that I have a sort of personal responsibility to post more now that we've entered the height of the silly season (election time). I start reading the blogs, move over to the news and by the time I might consider writing anything, I just want to shake my head as I stumble for the bed. I'm thinking seriously (really) about doing something on the above title. It seems to be a theme that has great currency right now and upon examination you find in runs through this dismal affair of a presidency that we have now.
I want to Google that piece of slime Tom DeLay before I hit the sack tonight. There was a, what was probably not all that close, near miss for him with an ethics committee.
But I got sidetracked with what is just one of them friggin' surreal comical items. The TSA diverted an airplane because Cat Stevens was on board. It doesn't matter if he goes by the name Yusef Islam now, if they don't know who he is they wouldn't be able to find Osama or anything else with two hands and a flashlight. No excuses, please. Yeah, I definitely feel more secure with these idiots on the job. Given the stink she made over the Syrian Wayne Newton, I figure there is either a Michele Malkin column or joke in the works. It's kinda hard to tell the difference.
In solidarity
I haven't posted in a while but I couldn't let this day pass without comment. The figures are in, the working man is still gettin' the shaft. I'm not so sure that Kerry is all that much of a friend to the working class. But I do know that we will be slightly better off with him in office. And I fear what it will be like if Shrub is put back in.
I'm reasonably sure that the plan is for a pass-off to brother Jeb at the end of any second term. What this will do is to somewhat free "W" to pay dues to the religious right and ultra-conservative elements of the party to ensure their continued support, thus benefiting his brother. Bro' Jeb can distance himself from these actions and claim to be a "caring" (compassionate already taken) conservative, give tax breaks to the rich and watch the wages, healthcare and hopes of a decent retirement for the working folk go down the tubes.
Sorry boys, the class war wasn't started by us.
